Our History

The excellent service you have come to expect at your local Jubilee markets is brought to you by Steve Trout and Lorne Peters of the SNL Food Group, who assumed ownership of the market in April of 2000.

Mr. Trout’s number one goal is to ensure that the store be community oriented and that they carried special programs that supported community clubs and organizations.

“We are a community operation and we want to get input from people in the community,” said Mr. Trout.

Mr. Peters, who formerly worked for Fleming Company that owned Jubilee markets, said that providing the best quality produce, meats and seafood were top priorities. Including:

  • Service meat departments with U.S.D.A. Choice beef, extra tender pork – no pumped pork
  • Grade A chicken, high quality seafood, and fresh deli products.
  • Produce departments bringing you the very freshest fruits and vegetables.
  • Jubilee Foods strives to support local farmers, and will carry local produce whenever possible, ensuring you of that farm fresh taste and quality.
  • Full line of grocery products at exceptional pricing.

Since it’s purchase the Jubilee has gone through constant changes and upgrades. The major remodel in 1999 added approximately 8,000 square feet to the store of which most went to the actual shopping area. Throughout the time between 2000 and 2006 there has been many smaller in-store changes made which include the addition of new deli cases, frozen seafood cases, service meat cases  and frozen food display cases. New shelving units and the addition of a 1600 square foot addition for storage.

Since it’s conception in 1976 Jubilee Foods (formally Super Thrift) has strived to serve the residents of Emmitsburg, Thurmont, Fairfield and the surrounding towns with not only a wide variety of Meats, Deli, Produce, Bakery, Groceries but also has become a part of the community with a strong commitment to helping the many organizations that have kept the area a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

In closing Jubilee Foods has grown with the changing community and is dedicated to customer service. We make every effort to carry a wide variety of product. We welcome customer input and do everything possible to satisfy requests. Our employees are local residents and also are a part of the community.

It is without a doubt that without you,
our wonderful Emmitsburg Maryland Community,
that we would not be able to keep doing what we love doing.
From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.
